What is the Most Important Food for Managing Inflammation and Enhancing Healing Mechanisms
Inflammation is the body's natural response to heal damage, requiring essential nutrients like proteins and fats for tissue reconstruction.
Red meat, seafood, fish, and eggs are primary sources of readily available nutrients for the human body. Increasing these foods intake is critical to controlling inflammation and restoring normal body functions.
Many patients limit their intake of red meat and eggs out of fear that these foods are unhealthy due to their fat content.
It's important to note that when studies refer to meat as unhealthy, they refer to processed red meat like hot dogs, gyros, and deli meats. However, consuming unprocessed red meat like beef, goat, and buffalo is beneficial for restoring the health of patients with inflammation [1].
The Harvard Carnivore Diet Study
A study by Harvard Medical School tracked the health progress of 2029 patients with autoimmune and chronic diseases who consumed a diet comprising 85% red meat [2]

Autoimmune conditions, obesity, low body weight, hypertension, diabetes, gastrointestinal problems, reduced mental clarity, and endocrine diseases showed resolution or significant improvement in 90% of patients.
Patients with inflammation are required to consume a diet that is high in protein. The protein levels in their diet should be significantly increased to help manage their condition [3].
The human body increases hunger during inflammation to acquire the necessary nutrients for healing.
Unfortunately, many people today avoid red meat because they fear negative implications, leading them to consume more processed carbohydrates like bread, sweets, pasta, and cookies. These foods are low in nutrients, increase insulin secretion, and disrupt the microbial balance.
In this way, they prevent the body from completing the healing process, worsening inflammation, impacting health, and increasing body weight.
It is essential to reduce the consumption of processed foods, whether of animal or plant origin, and increase the intake of highly nutritionally valuable foods to manage inflammation and improve health in patients with chronic inflammation.
What to Eat to Manage Inflammation
Eating adequate amounts of red meat, eggs, and seafood along with healthy carbohydrates found in fruits, honey, and easily digestible plant foods such as zucchini, carrots, olives, and cooked vegetables can help boost the body's healing mechanisms, promote the resolution of chronic inflammation, and improve the overall health of individuals suffering from chronic inflammatory diseases.
It is important to note that an individual's ability to consume carbohydrates can vary significantly based on their mitochondria's ability to use them. While some individuals can handle higher amounts of good carbs, others can aggravate inflammation and insulin resistance even with small quantities.
To improve health in these cases, it is essential to evaluate the status of mitochondria and address micronutrient deficiencies and metabolic blocks, such as insulin resistance, that hinder carbohydrate metabolism.
